Okay, so someone recently asked me who Chris and I met and so I thought it might be interesting to share it with you.
I’m not sure if everyone is aware, but I’ve had a fascination with England since I was 12. When I was 12, I was off school for a month due to an illness. During this month I “found” The Beatles. It was around that time that The Beatles Anthology came out and their movies were on TV all the time. I was convinced that I was meant to live in England *cookoo*. Flash ahead 6 years. When I was 17/18, I was not getting along with my mom at all and decided the best thing to do was to leave right after high school graduation. I knew I was moving down to LA for school, but wanted to be gone for the summer as well. So, I got a job at aYMCA summer camp just outside San Francisco (where the english go to do Camp America). This is where I had my first encounter with the English.....which was not anything I had imagined. At the camp, I started a relationship with an English guy which lasted through the first year of uni. Needless to say, that relationship ended VERY badly. I decided I had enough of living on my own in LA and wanted to come back home...free from boys (especially English ones)! So, I transferred to San Francisco State University (SFSU) and vowed that I was going to be relationship free (and english free) for awhile.
– Enter Christopher Pike –
On Thursday September 26th 2002 (within the first month of school at SFSU) I met Chris. SFSU provides a free shuttle service from Daly City BART (underground) to the university. One morning, I got on the shuttle and there he was sitting in front of me. I didn’t actually see his face, just the back of his head. He was talking to his friend and it just hit me! The sexiest accent I’ve ever heard in my life! Once we got to uni, I followed him and his friend trying to get up the courage to say something. So, I just went for it. “Excuse me, but are you from England?” was all I could come up with. I went on to say something about how I wanted to study abroad in the UK and if they had any information about it. It wasn’t actually Chris, but his friend who asked for my email address – NOT PHONE NUMBER – what’s with these IT kids? When I got home from uni, I had an email from Chris’ friend asking if I wanted to go out on a date. Later that evening I was on MSN Messenger when Chris’ friend came online. We started to chat online for a bit. After a “polite” amount of time, I asked where Chris was. Chris’ story is that after his friend took my info, he wouldn’t share it with Chris. Chris had to force this guy to give him my email, even after I was asking after him. Anyways, a while later Chris came online and we started chatting for a bit. He asked for my number, I gave it to him, and we talked on the phone for a bit. He asked me if I wanted to go on a date with him that Saturday (his 20th birthday). How could I say no to a guy asking me out on his birthday?
Our first date was to the cinema in Daly City. We saw Sweet Home Alabama, but I can’t really say I saw the entire movie! We did the normal dating stuff and then in Dec 2002, Chris’ student visa was expired so he had to go back home. We had tons of conversations about what we were going to do. In the end, after only 3 month of dating, I decided to move to England (my dream come true!). I moved in Jan 2003, lived there for six months and came home in June to go back to uni. Again, we couldn’t live apart so I move back to the UK in Dec 2003 for another six month period (that’s how long student work visa are for). I moved back home in June 2004 to go back to uni again. We were only meant to be apart for another year – Chris was going to move to the US when he graduated in June 2005. When his graduation came around, he decided it was best for him to take a job with a consulting firm in London. I was devastated! I just felt so drained with flying back and forth and trying to keep our relationship together. After many arguments and lots of crying, we decided to get married. So, I made plans to move to the UK to get married and thought it would be best not to tell my family. I’m still a little sad that my mom wasn’t there to see me get married, but in hindsight, it was the best way to do it. And as you guys know...that leads us up to Chris and I moving back to the states in Aug 2008.
Chris and I have been together for 6 ½ years (will be married 3 years on Valentine’s Day). It definitely hasn’t been easy for us – long distance never is, but it all worked out in the end. So, I guess I can’t complain too much.
Thanks for letting me share that with you. If you would like to post your "how we got together stories" I would love to read them.

I'M BACK!
oh me god... i can't believe this is my second time back! i am soooo naughty! sorry girls...
i see you have all been very busy! that's good!
Renee! I don't know why my picture is all the way at the bottom because Caroline Fegie lady has never been here and she is above me! rude! so please could you move me up so at least I'm not last! ha ha ha~ oh and yes I do work very hard at work! I don't know why. It's not like they notice it and give me credit for it. They actually moved me and Caroline into the IT room because they wanted to use the
space for in-house events. So you can see in the picture I sit in front of loads of CRAP! That's Caroline and I sit in front of her. Chris and Ian sits on the left. They told us it is only temporary but I don't think so. Caroline is sitting at the desk stressing out about her Tax Return which is DUE today!! Bless her.. I have offered to help by the way but she said she can do it. So here I am updating our lovely blog!
Is everyone going to Richmond? Becky, I will try and make it.. but it may be a little later. Well I mean much later... around 12ish??? I know that is quite late but I'm working saturday evening at Tony Roma's. Oh I have working there again since xmas just to get some extra cash since Finance are not allowed to make any commissions.. Although we are in negotiation with Chris. =)
So make sure you answer your phone or text me if you move from B@1.
Oh look at the time. I should get a little more work done before I go.. I mean I'm gonna start packing up! that should take good20 mins! right!?

Why do you people not listen?
The only one to update their "about me" page was Sal. Thank you Sal. Becky, you're was done a while ago (you over achiever you!). As you may or may not have notices both Sal and Becky have moved up in the picture ranking because they are good little bloggers and have updated their stuff. UNLIKE THE REST OF YOU! And don't act like you don't have time to do it. I know you guys don't actually do stuff at work! - except for Charlie and Hae Na... and maybe Lou now that her boss is mental.
Miss ya all! Sorry for the abuse.

I'm joining the monday blogging bandwagon
Hello ladies here goes my second update and as I feared it involves drinking...again!! And again i missed the sunday i was supposed to do it but Monday's not far off right?
I'll start with non alcohol related stuff.....hmmmm. Oh yeah i had my first appraisal at work. It went really well and it looks like i might be able to take on some more stuff which is good for my CV even if I do decide to leave at the end of my contract. I watched Seven Pounds - the Will Smith one - and maybe it's just because I had low expectations of it but I actually thought it was really good and i balled my eyes out like a baby (thank god i was at home and not in the cinema surrounded by people!!)
Friday I went for drinks in Earlsfield with Lou and Caroline - nice to see you ladies! - and some other mates came down a bit later and i drank the bar dry before a couple of us decided to go to The Swan in stockwell by which point it was 3 am and i should have been going home but we figured it was open til 6 so there was plenty of time. I was a lively little soul until we got in the taxi to go home and I fell asleep...again. Pattern emerging? Anyway Helen said she had to walk me to my door and open it for me but i don't remember any of it, just woke up the next day with a splitting head and very grateful to be in my own bed. And then I did nothing.....allllllllllllllllllll day. Oh no that's a lie i did make it up to order pizza - 2 for £10 bargain i thought - turns out ordering a medium thin crust plain chicken, mushroom and peppers pizza means you get a small thick crust tandoori chicken, mushroom and PEPPERONI pizza. And I can't stand Pepperoni. I have to take responsibility for the second vile pizza cos i ordered ham, prawns and green chillies in a moment of still drunk madness and by the time it turned up my stomach lurched at the thought of it.
I think you'll agree another satisfying, productive weekend all in all.
Going forward I've got dinner out on Wednesday, a haircut on Friday and my housemates birthday at some stables in camden on the saturday. Going to try and be a bit more compos mentis on saturday as Camden is a long way from home with an addled brain.
Oh and renee the french connection sale is on and it's not the same without you :)

monday already?!?
hey girls, well its monday already so am not happy about that!
Met up with sal and caroline for a quick drink on friday after work - didnt have a late one as i was working the next day. Not sure if you all know but i am currently working a second job at the weekends as well - yes i know i am mental but its for two things - firstly me and sean are moving in october (not going far but we need to move out of the flat we are in) so we need deposit money and secondly i am completely paranoid about being made redundant so am on saving mission in case the worse happens!!
other than that not much else is happening in the amazing world of me - have to book my car in for its MOT this week so fingers crossed please that all is well with the poor machine.
Work is the same - doing my head in - but it keeps me out of trouble i guess!
hope you all have a jolly week and speak soon!

Yet Another Week Begins!
Monday morning! I so do not want to be at work today! Ah well, I guess it's just this week and then I'm only working 2 days next week! Yippee! Must celebrate my advancing age!!
Had a great weekend with my sister, brother-in-law and niece, but I am absolutely shattered today! Imogen has a tendancy to wake up at crazy o'clock in the morning and is always full of beans, so I feel as though I need another weekend to get over it! It was lovely though, she came into my room to wake me up on Saturday morning and we sat in bed together and just chatted about her toys and stuff, she's not even 2 yet, but she has so much vocabulary it's astonishing! We took her swimming yesterday, and she absolutely loved it! She looks so adorable in her arm bands and stripey swimming costume kicking her chubby little legs like there's no tomorrow!!
I am so gutted that Big Brother is finished which means a distinct lack of George Lamb on our screens, but I'm hopeful that he'll be presenting something else sooner rather than later! Yes Caroline, it is hilarious that his dad is called Larry - but please don't say too much in case my future father-in-law reads this one day and realises we're all taking the p*ss out of him! Ha ha! Also, I cannot BELIEVE that Ulrika won BB, the public hated her - everyone booed and shouted "fix" at her when she was giving her interview. Not sure what went on there, but I wish I'd put some money on her to win even though I didn't want her to win. The bookies have made £100,000 because noone was betting on her to win!!
I suppose I should get on with some work now!
Hope to see most of you on Saturday! Don't forget 7pm at B@1, Richmond!!
Lots of love!

Edit the blog!
Hi Ladies,
It seems that most of you haven't updated your info. I don't know if I shared with you how to do this yet. Basically, you go to the "about me" under your picture and click on the little screw driver icon. This will bring up a page for you to write in.
Miss you all loads!
P.S. The doctor says that I am low in vitamin D. I have concluded that this is from living in a sun deprived UK for the last 3 years!

Met Sal and Lou for a couple and then went to meet sum friends in Covent Garden - i admit i did at one point go to the bathroom wen i knew it was my round - i'm not proud of it!!!! hahaha. Anyhoo i'm suffering with quite a hangover today so i'm havin a quiet one.
Uni's still great - love it, love it, love it.

I'm employable!... who would've thunk it!
I started my new job today. I thought I had mentioned this on here already, but I guess not. I got the job as a tax preparer for a CPA in San Ramon. This was the job I found off Craig's list (kinda like Gumtree) which was scheduled for 7:30pm. I took Chris with me to the interview because I was convinced that this guy was going to be a serial killer. Well, I didn't get killed in the end, thank God! He hired 3 of us... myself, another student (finance major), and a mom who works as a paralegal during the day. Everyone was really nice and he bought us pizza. Tonight was basically an intro into the tax process, tax software, and going over our availability. I have my first shift on Saturday morning. It sounds totally geeky, but I'm really excited to learn tax. I've been doing my own taxes for awhile, but this is on a whole new level because most of his clients have rental income or own a business and as you can guess... I have neither of those. What also excites me is that, even though I haven't started yet, I know this is what I want to do for a living. My mom as never around when I was younger. Both of my parents commuted a total of 3 hours a day, so they were home pretty late. When my mom finally transferred to job that was closer, she then used her free time to pick up extra nursing shifts. Anyways, the point I'm making is that I always wanted my mom home. I really want to be a stay at home mom. The CPA I work for said that he'll probably do around 600 returns this year and charge $350 per return. Have you worked that out yet? That's $210,000 for 3 months of work!!! And the best part of that is that tax returns are required for everyone! So, the industry is pretty much redundant free! I've worked out that by the time I have kids, I can charge $500 per return and do about 150 returns (2 per day).... that's $75,000... for 75 days of work! HELLO!!!! Best of both worlds. I get to earn some cash and get to spend time with the little Pikes. Very exciting.
In other news, I had my ultrasound appointment for my liver today. Not really sure what's going to happen next. Apparently I'll hear back from my doctor about the ultrasound and blood tests soon. It just sucks not knowing whats going on with my body. Saturday was my Grandma's 76Th birthday. Chris and I drove to San Jose to visit her in the afternoon and to give her our present. Grandma has Alzheimer's and must have opened her present 6 times! She would open it, say how great it was, then put it back in the box. About 30 minutes later she would ask what the box was for, so we'd tell her it was her birthday present and she would open it up all over again. It was really cute actually. So, I've been thinking....would it be exciting to wake up and not know it's your birthday or would it be sad? I'm not sure.
I saw Bride Wars on Tuesday. It was alright. Probably a 6.5 out of 10. Normally I would just download movies like that, but my cousin Jaime said she really had to get out of the house. She acts like it's hard having a 6 year old and newborn....please...what a whiner! Has anyone seen Slumdog Millionaire? I heard it's meant to be really good.
Okay, I'll stop there. I've blabbed on enough. Hope everyone has a fantastic weekend!

Anniversary/Birthday
Okay, so our 3 year anniversary is coming up (Valentine's Day) and my birthday is the beginning of March. I've told Chris a million times that I want to see Wicked because it's just started playing in San Francisco. I told him back in November. Do you think he did anything about it? That would be a big fat NO!!!! There are not ticket on our anniversary or my birthday. When I brought this up to him he said that it wasn't a big deal and we would just go sometime around my birthday. Am I being lame by getting upset about this? I mean, should I be upset that we can't go on the day of my birthday? I need responses so comment ASAP!
Love you all!

my first post
ok so i missed both my sundays but here I am finally - turns out it seems that most sundays i'm going to be too hungover to get on my computer but we'll see how it goes!
Well me and lou went to charlie's birthday drinks at acorn on saturday which was fun catching up with people. First time i'd had a drink since renee's get together in kingston before she left and i've started a new healthy eating regime (which basically means i'm hungry all the time) so i figured i'd get trollied pretty quick but suprisingly it actually took a while!! Well a bottle and a half of wine and 6 or 7 gins but i got there in the end, at which point my memory blanked so i can't remember what happened but apparently i slept all the way home on the nightbus. I think i have alcoholic narcolepsy. Oh and apparently i threw a bit of a childish fit when i found out the kebab shop had closed.
I do hope all my blogs don't end up being about me getting drunk!!
As for the healthy eating i've managed to lose 8lbs in 2 weeks which is fab but i've got a long way to go to shed the post smoking bulge. And that's despite the alcohol and the pizza yesterday! Oh and i'm going out for thai tonight....well a girls gotta eat!
Caroline The Script are crap the lead singer is a dick and Snow Patrol shit all over them!
Renee i hope everything goes ok with your tests and stuff
Becky - i saw George Lamb in the flesh at the TV Centre bar when i went after work one night. He was really fit in the flesh but his legs came up to my chin and they were the longest, thinnest, bird like legs i've ever seen so i reckon i wouldn't actually want to see him naked
Other than that don't think i've got much else to impart....i went to see slum dog last week which i loved but found quite harrowing but thoroughly recommend it
over and out chicas

Monday 19th Jan 2009
Well, blog number 2! I just realised that I didn't blog yesterday on my assigned day, so I am doing it today! Sorry!!!!
This is going to be really boring as I actually have NOTHING to say at the moment. I'm really looking forward to the weekend as I'm staying with my sister for a few days. I'm really looking forward to spending some time with her and Imogen, should be good fun!
Don't forget it's my birthday drinks on Saturday 31st January from 7pm in B@1 Richmond. I really hope you can all come and celebrate with me!
I'm obsessed with Big Brother at the moment and I'm a little worried about what I'm going to do with myself when it finishes on Friday. The lack of George Lamb on BBLB will be a little bit too much to cope with I feel. I think I'm just going to have to have a you tube video of him in my favourites and just watch it every so often to make myself feel better! I LOVE HIM!!
I hope everyone is doing well and things are good. I think I better sign off otherwise I will spend the next 10 minutes babbling on about George and how beautiful he is. Not something anyone needs to read about!!!!
Looking forward to seeing you all soon!
Lots of love
Becky

My nose!
OK girls i feel i must share with you what has been quite a traumatic week! Apologies Healy as you will already know about this but for everyone else....
On Tuesday morning I got up for work, I was on my own and it was about 7am. I climbed on to the bed to reach my hairbrush off the shelf and somehow (it all happened very quickly so i dont really know how it happened) i managed to slip and smash my face and my nose into the solid wall that is beside the bed. Blood came pouring out of my nose and my mouth. It was so pianful that my first thought was 'OMG i have broken my nose!' So i did what seemed sensible at the time and started to cry then my phone started ringing and it was sean so i shrieked to him about how i thought my nose was broken then i ran around in a flap for a bit and tried to stop all the bleeding! Then i had to get a train to work feeling very woozy and still dripping blood! Not a good look - although i did get a seat on the train .....
my nose is still very tender and sore but the brusing and the swelling have gone down a bit though i cant quite belive how much of a mess i managed to make of myself !!
Anyhoo thats my drama - have a good weekend and see you all soon!!

I like old men!
Since we got back from the UK and because I don't have school, the days seem to merge and I've totally lost track of time. I tend to get a little stir crazy when I have nothing to do. Chris will tell you that I'm not a nice lady to live with when I'm not going to school/working. I've been planning little trips out this week. Monday afternoon I went to see The Curious Case Of Benjamin Button which was good - not the greatest movie ever, but worth the £6 I paid. Does anyone think it's weird that I found a 85 year old Brad Pitt attractive? It seemed odd to me.
Tuesday Chris stayed home because he had a doctor's appointment. It was his first dealings with the US heath system. He's heard all the horror stories about how some people don't/can't get health insurance or how some places mistreat people. I found a great doctor at Kaiser in Livermore so I recommended him to Chris. Chris seemed to like him and had all his "issues" taken care of. Overall, he had a good experience. I, on the other had, am having some problems. I'm not sure if you guys know, but I have hypothyroidism. It usually means that you have a low level of thyroid hormone. In my case, I was born without a thyroid and have been treated for the disorder my entire life. I usually get a check up every 6 months and my most recent check up was last month. Well, I had some blood work done and it turns out that my liver function is a little high. Apparently it was high the last time I was checked up here (3 years ago). The doctor has requested that I get some more specific tests done and get my liver checked via ultrasound. I'm a little worried about what is going on. The ultrasound appointment is next week and I'll fill you guys in when I hear back about it.
On Wednesday, I drove to San Jose for my little cousin Hailey's 6th birthday party. We went to the Olive Garden and I had my favorite dinner - lasagna. Yummy! With every meal, you get free salad and bread sticks. They have the best salad there and if you ever come visit, you have to go to the Olive Garden? OMG ! It is fantastic! Chris got paid today and I attempted to spend his entire paycheck. We moved into our apartment in October, yet I'm still missing so many things - especially for the kitchen. Chris has a half day tomorrow because Monday is a holiday here (Martin Luther King Jr's birthday). It was so funny because he doesn't know the American holidays yet and was so happy when he found out Monday was a holiday. It was cute! We're trying to figure out what we're doing at the weekend. It's my grandmother's birthday on Saturday, so I'm sure we'll be in San Jose at some point. The rest of the weekend is free. I would love to do something besides sit on our butts like every other weekend. I'm trying to get Chris to take me to the cinema this weekend, but he doesn't believe in paying to see movies. Can we say illegal download?
Anyways, I hope all of you are liking the blog. It's a great way to find out what everyone is doing. Miss you guys loads!

Monday
Morning all!! Well its Monday morning, I am at work and writing this which shows how productive I intend to be today!
Didnt do too much at the weekend as I was working for most of it but I did go to the cinema twice, first time to see Role Models - Not Good, and the second time to see The Spirit - Quite Good. Also went out for dinner to Pizza Express with Sean and had a massive portion of cheesecake which Sean made me share which I was not happy about but I'll let it go ..... this once anyway!!
We are saving up for a holiday at the moment - we would come and visit you Nae but my crimminal boyfriend wont be allowed in so think it will have to be somewhere closer to home.
Other than that not much else is going on with me - except its cold and dark and I am at work so am off to Starbucks to buy myself a massive hot chocolate to cheer myself up! xx
Happy Monday everyone xx

Sunday 11th January 2009
Well, I have now had my blog virginity taken away. How exciting!
What can I say? Well, it's been nice to have a weekend after the first week back at work, which was quite traumatic I have to admit. I've forgotten how dull it is selling heating products!
Friday night was a quiet one; I was on a cleaning mission when I got home from work and sorted out all the washing up, emptied the dishwasher, put on some washing, cleaned my floor and dusted like a maniac. I watched Celebrity Big Brother's Little Brother featuring my (imaginary) future husband George Lamb. Later it was dinner time and Big Bro - highly amusing.
Saturday was a little shopping excursion to Walton and then met Caroline for some drinks in Old Faithful (that's O'Neills by the way!). Very nice it was too!
This morning I've been downloading episodes of CSI Vegas before the new series starts on Tuesday and making myself feel sick looking at pictures of James on his travels on Facebook. Why is he all over a girl in every picture and why does that make me feel sick and jealous? I am worried that when he gets back we won't be able to be friends any more because we won't have anything in common anymore. Feel quite sorry for myself now! Why on earth did I think it would be a good idea to torture myself?! What an idiot!
Anyway, that's all for now, I'm sure you're all now bored stiff reading about my boring weekend - I hope everyone else has done something much more exciting!
Blog soon!
Lots of love

Jacob Brian Guisto

I'm happy to announce the birth of Jacob Brian Guisto! He was born today at Santa Teresa Hospital in San Jose around 12pm (not exactly sure what time). He was 9lbs 12oz and is happy and healthy. Mommy (my cousin Jaime) is doing great after having a scheduled cesarean. This is Jaime's second child, the first was her daughter Hailey who is will turn 6 in a couple days. I was really excited when Hailey was born, but a little more excited today as Jacob is my godson! I was totally shocked and honored when Jaime asked me to be Jacob's godmother, but I'm the best person for the job. She knows that I'll spoil that child rotten! Anyways, needless to say, today was a very busy day.
After Jaime gave birth and we were able to see the baby, we went out for lunch to this little deli near the hospital. I was paying for my meal when the woman working the till asked if my last name was Parraz - I guess she saw it on my credit card and it's totally an unusual name. She said her daughter's last name was Parraz and then asked if I was from San Jose or Morgan Hill. I vaguely remember my Dad saying that he has some cousins in Morgan Hill. Anyways, turns out that I'm her daughter's cousin. I guess my Dad and this lady's daughter's dad are cousins. Small world.
Chris and I are still trying to recover from our trip to the UK. We got home around 3pm on Monday afternoon. The most wonderful thing in the entire world is getting home - even better if you're coming home to a clean place! I made sure that the flat was clean before we left because I knew that cleaning would be the last thing I would want to do when I got home. We made some popcorn, watched the People's Court and then it was off to bed. I was asleep by 6pm and didn't wake up until 7am then next day (Tuesday). Even now the jet lag is still affecting me. I'm okay until about 8pm and then get really tired. I'm sure I'll get over it by the weekend.
Thanks again for everyone who made it out to meet up with me while I was in the UK. I really appreciate it! I miss you guys loads and can't wait to see you all again soon.
