I'm happy to announce the birth of Jacob Brian Guisto! He was born today at Santa Teresa Hospital in San Jose around 12pm (not exactly sure what time). He was 9lbs 12oz and is happy and healthy. Mommy (my cousin Jaime) is doing great after having a scheduled cesarean. This is Jaime's second child, the first was her daughter Hailey who is will turn 6 in a couple days. I was really excited when Hailey was born, but a little more excited today as Jacob is my godson! I was totally shocked and honored when Jaime asked me to be Jacob's godmother, but I'm the best person for the job. She knows that I'll spoil that child rotten! Anyways, needless to say, today was a very busy day.
After Jaime gave birth and we were able to see the baby, we went out for lunch to this little deli near the hospital. I was paying for my meal when the woman working the till asked if my last name was Parraz - I guess she saw it on my credit card and it's totally an unusual name. She said her daughter's last name was Parraz and then asked if I was from San Jose or Morgan Hill. I vaguely remember my Dad saying that he has some cousins in Morgan Hill. Anyways, turns out that I'm her daughter's cousin. I guess my Dad and this lady's daughter's dad are cousins. Small world.
Chris and I are still trying to recover from our trip to the UK. We got home around 3pm on Monday afternoon. The most wonderful thing in the entire world is getting home - even better if you're coming home to a clean place! I made sure that the flat was clean before we left because I knew that cleaning would be the last thing I would want to do when I got home. We made some popcorn, watched the People's Court and then it was off to bed. I was asleep by 6pm and didn't wake up until 7am then next day (Tuesday). Even now the jet lag is still affecting me. I'm okay until about 8pm and then get really tired. I'm sure I'll get over it by the weekend.
Thanks again for everyone who made it out to meet up with me while I was in the UK. I really appreciate it! I miss you guys loads and can't wait to see you all again soon.
