I'm employable!... who would've thunk it!

I started my new job today. I thought I had mentioned this on here already, but I guess not. I got the job as a tax preparer for a CPA in San Ramon. This was the job I found off Craig's list (kinda like Gumtree) which was scheduled for 7:30pm. I took Chris with me to the interview because I was convinced that this guy was going to be a serial killer. Well, I didn't get killed in the end, thank God! He hired 3 of us... myself, another student (finance major), and a mom who works as a paralegal during the day. Everyone was really nice and he bought us pizza. Tonight was basically an intro into the tax process, tax software, and going over our availability. I have my first shift on Saturday morning. It sounds totally geeky, but I'm really excited to learn tax. I've been doing my own taxes for awhile, but this is on a whole new level because most of his clients have rental income or own a business and as you can guess... I have neither of those. What also excites me is that, even though I haven't started yet, I know this is what I want to do for a living. My mom as never around when I was younger. Both of my parents commuted a total of 3 hours a day, so they were home pretty late. When my mom finally transferred to job that was closer, she then used her free time to pick up extra nursing shifts. Anyways, the point I'm making is that I always wanted my mom home. I really want to be a stay at home mom. The CPA I work for said that he'll probably do around 600 returns this year and charge $350 per return. Have you worked that out yet? That's $210,000 for 3 months of work!!! And the best part of that is that tax returns are required for everyone! So, the industry is pretty much redundant free! I've worked out that by the time I have kids, I can charge $500 per return and do about 150 returns (2 per day).... that's $75,000... for 75 days of work! HELLO!!!! Best of both worlds. I get to earn some cash and get to spend time with the little Pikes. Very exciting.

In other news, I had my ultrasound appointment for my liver today. Not really sure what's going to happen next. Apparently I'll hear back from my doctor about the ultrasound and blood tests soon. It just sucks not knowing whats going on with my body. Saturday was my Grandma's 76Th birthday. Chris and I drove to San Jose to visit her in the afternoon and to give her our present. Grandma has Alzheimer's and must have opened her present 6 times! She would open it, say how great it was, then put it back in the box. About 30 minutes later she would ask what the box was for, so we'd tell her it was her birthday present and she would open it up all over again. It was really cute actually. So, I've been thinking....would it be exciting to wake up and not know it's your birthday or would it be sad? I'm not sure.

I saw Bride Wars on Tuesday. It was alright. Probably a 6.5 out of 10. Normally I would just download movies like that, but my cousin Jaime said she really had to get out of the house. She acts like it's hard having a 6 year old and newborn....please...what a whiner! Has anyone seen Slumdog Millionaire? I heard it's meant to be really good.

Okay, I'll stop there. I've blabbed on enough. Hope everyone has a fantastic weekend!
